Staker family slams "sickening" Hall blow

The family of Brent Staker, the player knocked out by a now infamous left hook by Barry Hall on Saturday night, have called for the Swan to be banned for the rest of the season.
Staker's mother Rosemary described the incident as "sickening" and "gut-wrenching", calling for the AFL tribunal to punish Hall severely.
Staker was taken off after the incident in the first quarter against the eagles and did not return from the
"They have to let other boys coming through that may be a bit of a biffer know that they're not going to get away with it," she said.
Stakers grandmother Leah has also slammed the actions of Hall; "That's not football, that's absolute nastiness. And when the boys came up towards Brent, (Hall) nearly did it to another one," she said.
The match review panel will look at the incident today and most likely send it straight to the AFL tribunal.
The swans forward has expressed remorse for his moment of madness, calling a press conference yesterday to try and offer some sort of solace for his actions.
"Certainly watching the vision afterwards, it looked terrible, Hall said. I certainly didn't mean to hit him high or to cause damage the way I did for him to be off for the rest of the game.
I'll cop that on the chin and whatever the tribunal comes up with, I've just got to cop.
"I'll take my medicine. Whatever they think is fair. It's pretty hard to defend my actions. It's there in black and white," Hall said.
Swans coach Paul Roos admitted the incident has tarnished his sides clean-cut image, after losing only one game to suspension last year, but stood by the star forward.
"It's not great for footy, it's not great for the club, it's not great for the development of the code, Roos said.
"But we will stand by Hally he's been exemplary while he's been at this footy club under my reign."
Staker will undergo scans today to determine whether he suffered serious facial injuries from the hit.
Hall will have surgery on his wrist, after crashing into a fence later in the game.
